Procedure of the TULSA-PRO treatment

The TULSA-PRO is an MRI-guided treatment of the prostate gland, which runs through the urethra (transurethral) and can destroy a prostate cancer via ultrasound energy that produces heat. This ultrasound energy comes from a treatment rod, which is an ultrasound-guided applicator that is inserted into the urethra. There are 10 treatment elements in the treatment rod, each of which produces ultrasound energy.

Each element can be activated individually. This individual activation of the elements is ideal for a localized treatment of prostate cancer. For example, elements 2, 3, 4, 5 can be used for a treatment because the tumor has this extension. Elements 1, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 are not activated in such a case.

The treatment in the MRI machine does not begin until the treatment rod has reached its optimal position. This means that the activated elements in the treatment rod are positioned in relation to the tumor volume. By rotating the rod, the area with the prostate cancer is specifically treated.

The ultrasonic energy coming from the activated treatment elements boils the tissue in the area and ablates (ablates) it. While the rod is actively treating, the system in the rod simultaneously spares the urethral wall by means of an integrated cooling system in order to avoid damage from the heat. For safety reasons, the colon is also equipped with an additional cooling system.

The treatment can be observed and controlled live on the monitor during the entire time.

The costs for the TULSA-PRO therapy including the preliminary examinations are around 20.000 EUR (tax-free services).

„Unbelievable but true!“

The diagnosis and treatment of prostate problems is still mostly carried out according to traditional principles and methods and leads to life-changing side effects!
I did not want to put up with this, although my urologist strongly advised me to do so and had already prepared everything without consultation!
I searched for and found the solution to my problem in the Tulsa Pro treatment by Dr. med. Lumiani, Alta Klinik, Bielefeld! With a lot of confidence and still soft knees I underwent this therapy in November 2018. At no time during or after the treatment did I experience any pain. After 2 weeks I could remove the bladder catheter. After 6 weeks all symptoms of the treatment (blood in the urine and urine stream) were normal again! After 3 months, in February 2019 the follow-up examination was done.
Result:
Everything was fine again!! My libido did not suffer, I am consistent, potent and orgasm and ejaculation work like before!! PSA before: 7,28 after: 1,59!
My prostate carcinoma with a Gleason-Score 7b (4+3) with 4s to 95% is resolved!

„It is absolutely the most minimally invasive and very successful form of treatment“

In spring 2017 I was surprised by an increased PSA value. An MRT scan revealed a suspected prostate carcinoma. My urologist recommended a conventional biopsy via the intestine. The procedure of the biopsy form to be signed for me made me a little thoughtful. After that I started to find out about the different types of biopsy. A well-known doctor who had been biopsied x times conservatively, but without success at first, although his PSA value continued to rise. This affected doctor came across the Alta-Klinik through an acquaintance. His prostate cancer was found there at first go. This 3D controlled biopsy form convinced me and I had a successful biopsy there as well. The result was an adenocarcinoma with a Gleason-Score 7(3+4) the 4 with 15%.

The Alta Klink under the leadership of Dr. Lumiani now practices an extended method of HIFU treatment, the so-called TULSA Pro treatment. After a consultation with Dr. Lumiani, I underwent this now very successful form of treatment to eliminate prostate cancer. On 26.07.2017 at 11 am I underwent the operation (OP). Because the carcinoma was quite large, it lasted about 50 minutes. At 4 p.m. I walked under supervision to the bed clinic 400m away. The next day I was already discharged. It is absolutely the most minimally invasive and very successful form of treatment.

In the meantime 1/2 year has passed. All my follow-up examinations and their results were excellent. I can only recommend this form of surgery – if the Gleason score allows it.

„What an attitude to life!“

I am very pleased that Dr. Lumiani has succeeded in developing such an innovative procedure for reducing the volume of a benign enlarged prostate (benign prostatic hyperplasia). For many years I have suffered from having to go to the toilet four or five times a night, and deep sleep was almost impossible. After the operation I have now regained my quality of life.

However, this is only one aspect of the novel MRI-controlled organ-preserving therapy with the TUSLA-Pro. The most important thing is that with the new technique no man has to fear incontinence and impotence if he suffers from an enlarged prostate. I have experienced again and again in my circle of acquaintances and in my family what this means for a man. My father had an operation when he was exactly my age. His prostate was „planed off“ to make it smaller. A technique that today – 25 years later – is still seriously offered to you by doctors and practiced in clinics. For my father, this was a massive cut in his quality of life, a loss of an essential part of his masculinity, from which, in my impression, he never really recovered.

But also newer techniques that are now practiced in many clinics, such as laser technology, can have serious consequences. Permanent incontinence and impotence can usually be avoided, but dryness during sexual intercourse and retrograde ejaculation are the consequences, because the sensitive area where the sperm ducts are located is also „cleared out“. Here too, I am aware of cases from my own environment. I know that men don’t like to talk about this topic, but it’s worth talking about it, because now there is a surgical method that can prevent all this and that can remove the benign proliferating tissue in a targeted manner. There is no limitation, even with a prostate size of 100 ml (like mine).

Already eight weeks after the treatment I can say that everything works as usual: no incontinence, no impotence, no penis dryness and no retrograde ejaculation. And fortunately the urge to urinate is gone at night. What an attitude to life! Thanks to Dr. Lumiani and his team!

Eine Klinik mit Kompetenz und Herz

Nach einer Vorsorgeuntersuchung, wobei auch der PSA-Wert untersucht worden war, bin ich auf den Verdacht eines Tumors hingewiesen worden; deshalb sollte nach der Meinung des Urologen eine Gewebeprobe aus der Prostata entnommen werden. Kompetente und fundierte Betreueung durch ein freundliches Team
